Earlier today a parent made the SAU aware of a potential threat at MRHS. Administration promptly investigated the situation, determined that a threat had been made through social media earlier in the week. Administration notified the police and took disciplinary action. While there was no evidence to indicate a plan or means to act on the threat, as with all threats, the administration takes this very seriously. There was no disruption to the learning environment for students. All students were and continue to be safe.
However, we wanted to take this opportunity to relay the importance of reporting concerns to a trusted adult. Students should talk to an adult (parent, counselor, teacher, coach, etc) when they become aware of potential health and safety issues involving others. Out of an abundance of caution, adults should always contact the school or SAU, even when it may feel unnecessary or an over reaction.
Please reach out to school and/or district administrators to report a concern. Should there be an immediate concern for student safety outside of school hours, do not hesitate to reach out to the local police department.
While this information may be alarming and you may desire more information, due to privacy laws the information we can share is limited. Please feel free to give us a call to discuss your concerns (603) 291-2017.
