Good afternoon Mascenic,
We have some sensitive news to share with you regarding one of our little friends at HHES. We know that communication is important in times of need, and often people want to know how to offer support. Please take a moment to review the letter.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we take time to recognize and honor all of those who have filled the role of “mother” in the lives of others; to acknowledge the many individuals who nurture, guide, support, and care for those around them each and every day.
In our schools and community, that care comes from many places — mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, aunts, sisters, teachers, counselors, coaches, paras, neighbors, and friends. These are the people who offer encouragement during difficult moments, celebrate successes both big and small, provide comfort and reassurance, and help shape the lives of children and young adults through their compassion and steady presence.
To all who serve in these important roles in whatever form they may take, thank you. Your patience, strength, empathy, and love make a lasting difference in the lives of others every day. Wishing all in our community a Happy Mother’s Day!

The Facilities Committee invites community members to join a behind-the-scenes tour of the district’s facilities on Thursday, April 30, at 6:00 a.m. Please meet outside the HHES main entrance to begin the tour with the committee.

Our 8th graders are almost home!!! Yesterday was a busy day; the National Zoo, tour of the Capitol building and a variety of war memorials! Today was a stop in Philly at the Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell and now they are en route to New Ipswich!

Due to driver shortage, buses 3 & 7 will be combined this afternoon. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

HHES has put up a feed to view the much anticipated hatching of the baby chicks! Classes have been tracking growth and learning about their lifecycle! This morning you could hear tiny chirps coming from the eggs...any hour we expect to see some chicks! The link is live until 10PM tonight and will start again tomorrow morning! Thank you Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Matson for hosting this fun event!

Yesterday 8th graders visited Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - watched the changing of the guard ceremony, ride the tram through the Arlington National Cemetery, went to the Spy Museums, a variety of Smithsonian's, and attended the dinner theatre to see The Wizard of Oz. Today's wake-up calls came early!

On the way to school this morning, an HHES student on bus 9 played a soundbite of gunshots. Some students made inappropriate comments. We took the opportunity to reinforce our safety standards, and the students involved were addressed. Everyone has arrived at school and is safe. If you have questions, please call Mr. Saunders directly.
Busy day in DC for our 8th graders! Washington Monument, the Capitol building, and relaxing on the mall after a busy visit to the Smithsonian Museums!
