Dear BMS Families,

It’s starting to feel like summer! I cannot believe that this school year is almost over! We have a few more weeks to go and then we will be on summer break! Please see the important information below:

Vaccine Clinic

We are hosting a vaccine clinic for students who are 12 or older at BMS from 11:30-1:30 tomorrow!

Here is the link with directions on how to register for the vaccine through the VINI website. If you are having trouble with the link, you can fill out the paper form, call the school to let us know you would like your child to have the vaccine, and have your child bring the completed form to school.

In-School Students will be called down from class, receive the vaccination, and then will be monitored for 15 minutes before being sent back to class. If students report any symptoms to the nurse after those initial 15 minutes, you will be called immediately! Parents do not need to accompany their child to school to get the vaccine!

Remote Students should have their parents park at the main entrance and sign in at our main office. They will receive the vaccination, and then will be monitored for 15 minutes before sending them back out to your car.

Water

As the weather starts to warm up I would like to remind parents and students the importance of proper hydration!

Please please please encourage your child to bring in a water bottle to school! The water bottle filler function is still working on our water fountains! We want everyone to stay hydrated for these last few weeks! The school nurse is seeing an increase in headaches and general tiredness with students and proper hydration (water) is the best way to combat these issues.

Lastly, please remind your child to prioritize their hygiene as the temperature starts to increase. Deodorant and regular showers are encouraged and appreciated!

Clothing

We want to first encourage layering/ appropriate clothing options for the change in temp as the school day progresses. Sweatshirts or sweaters are a good idea for the morning – please make sure your child has an appropriate shirt underneath to accommodate increasing temps as the day goes on. If your child has PE - make sure they pack socks and sneakers for class. Shorts, dresses, T-shirts are all great options to keep your child comfortable and cool through the day as long as they comply with our district dress code policy.

Note - there are baggy T-shirts and other clothing items in the nurse’s office in case a student forgets/ needs covering. Mrs. Heaphy also has snacks, water and personal deodorants available.

End of Year Activities

Over the next few weeks we will be communicating plans for grade level end of year activities.

Grades Closing

This year our grades are closing June 11th. Student report cards and honor roll certificates will be mailed home the week after school gets out.

Individual grade levels have been communicating about accepting late work. Please check with teachers regarding when late work needs to be completed!
