2 students receiving a free book

The Book Vending Machine is here and has been quite a hit with students and teachers. The machine was purchased with funds given to the District to help improve student outcomes. This portion of the grant was for community outreach. Mr. Saunders felt that the vending machine would help improve literacy. The children are certainly excited about it and can't wait for the birthday to receive a book. The school also recognizes good deeds by students or helpful acts and each week a name will be drawn for a student to receive a book. The ultimate goal is to encourage the students to read and enhance the learning experience.

The grant covered the machine and an initial supply of books. Future book purchases will be funded through proceeds from Scholastic Book Fairs.
