Mascenic Freshmen and Families,
It is my pleasure to formally welcome you to Mascenic! I’m so very excited to embark on this adventure with you; together we will work through challenges as we transition from middle school to high school! As with any new adventure there is excitement and fun but also anxiety and stress. In order to make this transition as smooth as possible, we’ve scheduled a special orientation for freshmen prior to the start of school:
August 30th, 2022, 8:45AM-2:00PM. Here is an outline for the day:
Students arrive at 8:45 at the front entrance
Students will be split into two groups
One group will meet with administration and review school rules, review schedules, pick lockers, and receive a tour by National Honor Society students
One group will engage in community building and relationship building activities with school staff and facilitators from the Browne Center
Lunch will be provided
In the afternoon the two groups will swap activities
We will end the day with class elections. Students who are interested in running for a class office (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) should be ready to give a speech about why they are the best candidate for office. Each student interested will be given two minutes to speak.
Pick up at the front entrance at 2:00
While this is not a mandatory event, I highly encourage all students to attend. This will provide an opportunity for you to transition to the building without additional stressors like upperclassmen, bells, etc. If the lack of transportation is prohibitive for you to attend, please contact Ms. Heywood at 603-878-1113.
