HHES Grades 1-4 hiked Little Kidder Mountain on Thursday, September 19th.  We couldn't have picked a more perfect day!  The weather was spectacular!  The students and faculty had a great time.  Fabulous school spirit. The students played bonding games at the top and had either lunch or a snack. Along the way they collected items to make their own version of "HHES Rocks"  and viewed motivational messages.  All students had a "rock" candy lollipop waiting for them on their desks.

The Kindergarten students walked the Storybook Trail with their students.

"HHES ROCKS" was a huge success!  Thanks to all those who made it happen.

During the school year each grade level nominates two students to be the Student of the Month.  They make posters with an acronym of the student's name with their best qualities and post in the grade level pod.  At the end of the year, Mrs. Saari presents those students with a medal to acknowledge this achievement.  Congratulations to all!

Student of the Month Award Presentations

The Annual Field Days went off fabulously.  We were so lucky that the weather held out for us.  The children had a great time playing games such as Relay Races; Kickball; Parachute; Balloon Walk and everyone's favorite on a hot day, Leaky Pipes.  There were many other games as well.  Thanks to Ms. Burleson, the PE teacher, and the many parent volunteers as well as friends from Franklin Pierce who made these days possible for the students.

We also had an "End of Year" barbecue for all students and staff.  Thanks to Mrs. Saari and all the volunteers who came to help.  Thanks also to Mrs. Mahoney at the New Ipswich Market  for her assistance in purchasing the hot dogs, rolls and watermelon and the Frito Lay company for donating the chips. This was a great way to end another successful year at HHES!

Last but certainly not least, the school community gave a sendoff to the fourth graders leaving us and going on to Boynton.  This is a tradition at HHES - all the students line the hallways and staircase and clap as the 4th graders walk through.  We wish them the best of luck in their new educational endeavors.

The school community is thankful to all who make the these events possible and look forward to the new school year!

DI Global Finals, Kansas City, Missouri-May 21-26, 2019

The HHES DI team had quite an adventure at the Global Finals in Kansas City.  There was a lot of pin trading with the other states and at least 15 other countries.  The team members came back with a wonderful collection of pins.

The competition was a tough one.  There were 74 teams at the Elementary level in the engineering challenge.  The HHES Team was also one of the youngest teams made up of 9 year olds.  Many of the Elementary teams have fifth graders on their teams.  The HHES team came in 28th.  Not bad at all!

Besides pin trading and competing, the team had the opportunity to spend a day at Worlds of Fun which is an amusement park.  Thursday night was Box and Baller Night.  We started with a BBQ followed by free gifts, balloon artists, bag pipes, marching drum bands, two dance bands and fireworks to mention a few.

The team members describe the Opening and Closing Ceremonies as ‘extremely amazing’.

The team was accompanied by their mothers who appeared to have just as much fun, if not more, than the kids.

Overall, for the first time in Missouri, it was an awesome opportunity.

We also want to give a big Shout Out of THANKS to all those who donated.  We couldn't have done it without you!
